Spring Planting Day

We have set a date for the Spring planting of annuals.   Many of you showed interest in this event on Spring Cleanup Day or you have notified me separately of your interest.  The date is Saturday, May 29th from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.  Let’s all hope we are out of the 30 degree nights by then.   We hope many of you will be planning a long Memorial Day weekend at Hidden Valley and will be able to spare a few hours on Saturday morning for this event.

The project is to plant flowering plants around many of the monuments here on the mountain.  And it is BYOS (bring your own spade or trowel).    The foundation will be providing coffee and donuts in the morning.  We will wrap up by 11:30 in case you are attending the Pool Party sponsored by the Social and Recreation Committee at noon.

10:00 am

Bocce Ball

Bocce, a sport similar to lawn bowling, was first offered at Hidden Valley last summer.  It was so successful, that a second bocce court will soon be added next to our existing court at the South Ridge Center.

No expensive gear is needed for bocce.  All that is needed is a set of bocce balls, which is available for sign-out at the SRC.

A game of bocce can be played with 2, 4, 6, or 8 players.  The rules of the game are easy to learn.  Beginners can enjoy the game after just 10 or 15 minutes of instruction or by watching a game.  There are a variety of strategies in bocce to keep the game interesting and fun.

12:00 pm

Pool Opening Party

There will be food and live music from Flying Blind.

4:00 pm

Craft Beer Exchange

Due to COVID, this year’s event will look a little different than in the past exchanges.  To take part, please bring an unopened case (24 bottles or cans) of a craft beer, PLUS whatever else you would like to drink during the exchange, along with any food you would like.  Everyone will turn in their case of beer to a volunteer wearing a mask and gloves who will then return your case box packed with a variety of whatever beers were turned in.
