May Coffee Hour/Kentuck Knob Lecture

Coffee Hour will be held on Saturday, May 26th at the South Ridge Center. Join your neighbors and friends for coffee, hot tea, juice, and light breakfast snacks. Please arrive at 9:00 AM to enjoy your coffee and snacks, as the lecture will begin promptly at 9:30 AM.

High atop a bluff overlooking the Youghiogheny River gorge stands Kentuck Knob, an eloquent testimony to the unity of humankind and nature. Kentuck Knob was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1956 for I. N. and Bernardine Hagan, owner of Hagan Ice Cream Company. The Uniontown couple commissioned Wright to design the house for their 89-acre tract of farmland in Fayette County. Mary Ann Perkins will highlight some of the history, storyline, and value of having this treasure located in our wonderful Laurel Highlands of Southwestern Pennsylvania where architecture, art, and nature are seamlessly integrated into the beautiful landscape.

Mary Ann Perkins is the Manager of Operations at Kentuck Knob. She arrived at Kentuck Knob in 2014 after ten years at Carnegie Museum of Art, pIttsburgh, Department of Education, as Manager of the Volunteer Docent Program. Now a full-time resident of Hidden Valley, she has owner her home since 1993 where she has created endless fond memories with family and friends. She considers herself an ambassador for our region and for the arts. There is no fee to participate in this event, but reservations are required. Please register online at www.HVFToday.com.

Craft Beer Exchange

Do you like to try new beer flavors, but hate to by a 12-pack or case? If so, join us for a craft beer exchange on Saturday, May 26th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the South Ridge Center! Here’s how it works: You bring a case (24 cans or bottles) of a craft beer of your choice, as well as a snack or appetizer to share, AND whatever you would like to drink as we socialize with our neighbors and friends. Everyone will put their case of beer on the table, then you take one of each flavor until you have a case to take home. The number and variety of beers depends on how many people participate. So, grab a case of beer and join us for a couple of hours, and get to know your Hidden Valley neighbors! Questions may be directed to Robin Henley at 757.329.9974. Please make your reservations online at www.HVFToday.com.
