Backyard Hike

Join us on Sunday, September 6  (weather permitting) on a 3.5-mile hike in Forbes State Forest, right next to Hidden Valley. We will meet at 10:00 at the Forbes State Forest sign on Gardner Road opposite the Black Cherry townhouses (look for a red Toyota SUV) and hike along Lookout Trail, Jones Mill Run Trail, and Koring Trail (with a tiny bit of the Laurel Highlands Trail) and back.  Trails are moderate in difficulty, with climbs and descents and rocks and tree roots to look out for. All ages are welcome, although this hike is not ideal for very young children. Trail snacks will be provided. Wear sturdy, closed shoes and bring sun screen, insect repellent, and trekking poles if you like. Please do not park in the Black Cherry parking spaces reserved for residents of Black Cherry.
