2025 Spruce Flats Bog Hike

Join us on Sunday, July 6 (weather permitting), for a tour of the amazing Spruce Flats Bog area followed by a 2.5 mile hike.  We will meet at 10:00 am in the Foundation parking lot and carpool or caravan to Laurel Summit State Park.  We will first take a short walk to the boardwalk that leads into the bog and look at some of the plants and animals that thrive there.  Then we'll take a moderate, mostly flat 2 - 2.5 mile hike around the bog.  If you like, you can picnic in the park, where there are tables and restrooms. On your way back, you may want to detour to nearby Ligonier for some ice cream or window shopping. The Social & Rec committee will provide trail snacks. Wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes or boots and bring a full water bottle, sunscreen, insect repellent, and trekking poles if you like.
